Visit of His Holiness Pope Tawadros II to the Institute on December 25, 2020 – 16 Kiahk 1737 A.M.

On the afternoon of Friday, December 25, 2020, His Holiness Pope Tawadros II visited the headquarters of the Coptic Institute for Church Administration and Development and met with the Institute’s members, including trainers and faculty. His Holiness then listened to an explanation from Dr. Magdy Latif El-Sandy, the Institute’s Dean, regarding the Institute’s activities since its founding in 2015 until the end of 2020. The aim was to achieve the Institute’s vision, mission, and strategic objectives. He also outlined the Institute’s future short-term plan up to 2023, focusing on expanding the services provided by the Institute, which are based on the following pillars: training and interactive learning (basic training courses, specialized courses, professional diplomas, Master’s in Church Administration), as well as providing technical support services to dioceses and churches, such as developing management systems and institutional development within the framework of a joint cooperation protocol with the Institute. Additionally, the plan includes conducting research and studies. His Holiness praised the first applied study presented by the Institute on “Positive Shared Experiences Among Churches During the COVID-19 Pandemic” and assigned the Papal Office for Projects with disseminating the study. Dr. Magdy Latif then addressed the pillar of building knowledge awareness through publications, dialogue forums, electronic communication, the website, etc.

Dr. Magdy also explained the nature of the work of the institute’s various committees, the roles the institute played in evaluating the integrated development project for the Bishopric of Services, and the digital transformation to enable remote training amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

His Holiness then led an extensive discussion with faculty members and trainers about his vision for developing institutional and research work to achieve positive, constructive change in all aspects of individual, collective, and institutional church service.

His Holiness the Pope was accompanied on the visit by His Grace Bishop Julius, General Bishop of the Old Cairo Churches Sector and the Bishopric of Services, and Monk Kyrollos Anba Bishoy, Director of the Pope’s Office.
