The priests and Institute members also met with His Holiness on Saturday, December 16, 2023, corresponding to 6 Kiahk 1740 AM, at 10:00 AM. His Holiness delivered a spiritual address outlining the broad guidelines for the first year of a priest's ordination, which forms the foundation of his future priestly life at the family and church levels.

  • The first year is a preparatory and foundational year that establishes During it, the priest devotes his life and service to all the days of his priesthood.
  • The guardian of thought is the Bible, so always keep the Bible open, for as the deer longs for streams of water, so my soul longs for you, O God (Psalm 42). The word BIBLE stands for Basic Information Before Leaving Earth, “to be present with the Gospel so that you may know heaven.”
  • The key to hearts is love. Whoever knows love understands life. If the heart does not have love, you will not understand life. Your service as a priest will be according to the amount of love in your heart, and here comes the idea of fatherhood.
  • Your enemy is “the self,” so do not do the works of the world, Father Priest, in order to bear fruit.
  • Continuous renewal, as we pray every day, “Create in me a clean heart, O God; renew a right spirit within me.”
  • The priest's care for his family and their participation in serving with him.
  • The end of something is better than its beginning: The priest should put the good ending in his prayers: “Lord, give me a good ending and complete my days in peace.”

The meeting concluded with His Holiness the Pope answering the questions of the new priests and taking commemorative photos.

The Institute's participation in the annual meeting of the Bishopric for Integrated Services (BLESS) with development partners inside and outside Egypt.

Under the patronage and honor of His Holiness Pope Tawadros II, Pope of Alexandria and Patriarch of the See of St. Mark, and his partner in the apostolic service, His Grace Bishop Julius, General Bishop of the Churches of Old Cairo, El-Manial, and Fom El-Khalig, andBishopric of Public, Social and Ecumenical Services, Held on Monday, November 27, 2023 - 17 Hathor 1740 A.M.--- For the annual meeting of the Bishopric of Services and Partner Organizations inside and outside Egypt with His Holiness the Pope, His Holiness received, at the Papal Headquarters in Cairo, His Grace Bishop Julius, General Bishop of Old Cairo and the Bishopric of Public and Social Services, along with service leaders from the Bishopric and representatives of the Bishopric's partner organizations from inside Egypt, including the Coptic Institute for Church Management and Development. Representatives of partner organizations from outside Egypt were also present.

During this annual meeting, the new strategy for the bishopric's development work in the poorest communities was presented. His Holiness the Pope also delivered a speech in which he highlighted the values of partnership in development, which cultivates humanity through cooperation and the rejection of conflict. The Coptic Orthodox Church fulfills its spiritual role (the salvation of souls) and also plays a societal role, as it is a church that serves society according to its needs and surrounding circumstances. His Holiness added: “Man’s first need is his need for love, and this is humanity. If we live in this world that is now characterized by instability, With man losing his human feelings, and technology dominating without governing principles, the solution is for our service to be “anointed with love,” and for man to express his humanity through love. Just as God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son as a ransom for us, so too must the servant “plant love in service” so that it is not dry service, and finally “for man to be a reason for the happiness of others.”

Representatives of partner organizations praised the services provided by the Bishopric to every human being and for all humanity, and the positive impact of this in meeting the needs of communities..

In conclusion, His Holiness the Pope distributed souvenirs to the attendees, and commemorative photos were taken..

Dr. Magdy Latif El-Sindy, Dean of the Institute, delivered a welcoming speech, expressing thanks and appreciation to His Holiness the Pope for his continuous support for "COPTICAD" and his keenness to establish an institutional work approach in the Church.  Then a dialogue meeting was held in which some metropolitans and bishops participated, namely: His Grace Bishop Daniel Bishop of Maadi, Basateen, Dar El Salam and its dependencies, Cairo, His Grace Bishop Thomas, Bishop of Qusiya and Mir, His Grace Bishop Pavly, General Bishop of the Churches of the Montazah Sector, and His Grace Bishop Michael, Bishop of Hadayek El-Qobba, El-Waili and Manshiyet El-Sadr, discussed in the dialogue the concepts of “the Church as a purposeful, fruitful and growing spiritual institution.”

His Holiness the Pope delivered a speech in which he began by saying: “This is a day of joy and rejoicing, and it has important connotations in the history of our Church.”

He then welcomed the attendees and the team of the Institute of Church Management and Development. In his speech, he addressed three points that included guidance and advice on pastoral management:

1. *Beware of Personal Whim:* He commented: "It is very difficult for a shepherd to do as he pleases in managing his church or diocese." He supported this with the words of our Lord Jesus Christ: "If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me" (Matthew 16:24), indicating that these words emphasize there is no room for self in pastoral work. He affirmed that self-denial must be a method and a way of life, through which saints and the righteous walked and succeeded, stressing that we must have unified standards in selecting those who are called to priestly service.

2. Our work must be perfect: What we offer to Christ must be the best we can. He cited the advice of our teacher, the Apostle Paul, to his disciple Timothy: “Fulfill your ministry” (2 Timothy 4:5). He added: “Our service must have substance and a vision to be complete and comprehensive,” emphasizing the importance of planning in ministry.

3- The importance of systematic work and vision in ministry: Organized ministry is successful and brings joy to God and people, and Christ was meticulous and organized in his public ministry. He concluded: "I reiterate my thanks, appreciation, and pride in the institute and its staff."

At the end, the 650 graduates were honored by His Holiness the Pope.
